As of 18 februari 2003 I own this volvo 740 as a replacement of my volvo 480. I found this car at a local ebay lookalike site. It need a bit of work. All belts (including both timing belts) need to be replaced, just as the waterpump and the front tyres.
The car is a 1988 volvo 745 with a D24 non-turbo diesel engine (yeah, they
were sold without a turbo in europe) and airco. It has 380.000 kilometers on it.
I was looking for a car with a trailer hitch. As this car doesn't have one I'll
have to add one myself. This won't be a big problem, as the car had one before
(the bottom of the car has some marks of one being there) and well, the car
was only € 400,=. :-)
Next to the engine problems it has some parking damage. Not to bad, as
you can see. It'll be patched with just a bit of paint to prevent it from
rusting.
After fixing all this and getting the car to pass the mot I'm going to
do some other work on the car. There's going to be a radio fitted to it and
I'm thinking of upgrading the brakes as the standard brakes are a bit to
small for a car of this weight.
Ok, I had some upgrades planned, power windows, turbo diesel and some other
stuff. When I found a TD with powerwindows for near to nothing I bought
it. As 2 daily drivers are a bit to much for 1
person I've sold my initial volvo 740 in june 2005.
